Joel Wright had a double-double (16 points and 13 rebounds) and Wes Davis scored a season-high 19 points, but the Bobcats were overcome by a late South Dakota run, falling 57-56 Monday night at Strahan Coliseum.

The Bobcats had the ball with 18 seconds to go when Phil Hawkins drove and dished the ball into Wright who layed it up and in as time expired. Wright thought he drew contact and hoped to be going to the line for an and-one opportunity, but no call was given and Texas State fell by one.

Texas State was up 51-40 midway through the second half when the Coyotes began their surge. Casey Kasperbauer scored all nine of his points, beginning with a straight away three, to make it a 51-47 lead in favor of the Bobcats at the time. He then hit two more consecutive treys, giving South Dakota the 55-51 advantage.

Davis led the Bobcats for most of the first half, scoring 15 of his 19 points in the first 20 minutes. He made three from behind the arc, accounting for 75 percent of the team's three-pointers on the night. Behind Davis' 15 first half points, Texas State took a 34-25 lead into intermission.

Wright was one of two players with double-digit rebounds, joining Emani Gant who had 12. Wright's 13 rebounds was a career-high, and he is now the team's leading rebounder, averaging 6.4 a game to go along with his team-best 16.8 points.

Texas State will now head to Mexico for the Cure UCD Classic, beginning Friday, Nov. 29 against Tulane. It will begin a stretch of three games in as many days as the Bobcats will also play Southeast Missouri and Northern Kentucky at the event.
