Texas State to Play in First SBC Tournament

, Texas – After building up a strong history in the Southland Conference and one year in the Western Athletic Conference, Texas State Volleyball will make its first appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, starting Thursday with a first round match against Louisiana at 2:30 p.m. at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala.
 
The Bobcats finished the regular season at 21-12 overall and 11-7 in SBC action to win the third seed in the tournament. The top seed is Western Kentucky followed by No. 2 UALR. After that, it's No. 4 UT Arlington, No. 5 South Alabama, No. 6 Louisiana, No. 7 Arkansas State and No. 8 Troy.
 
Texas State has won six consecutive sets over Louisiana, sweeping the Ragin' Cajuns in both meetings this season. The Bobcats are 8-6 this season against the tournament field and have beaten every opponent at least once except for top seeded WKU and Arkansas State. Both matches against the Red Wolves of ASU went the full five sets.
 
The winner between Texas State and Louisiana will advance to face either UALR or Arkansas State at 4 p.m. Friday, and the SBC Championship match will be at 1 p.m. Saturday available to see on ESPN3 or the WatchESPN app. For the full bracket, click here.
