Men's Basketball Undone by Oral Roberts Offense

Tulsa, Okla.
– Oral Roberts used hot shooting in the second half, and Texas State was unable to match the Golden Eagles, as the Bobcats fell 82-65, Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Okla.

With eight minutes remaining in the second half, and the shot clock approaching zero, Oral Roberts guard Korey Bilbury hit a three-pointer halfway between midcourt and the top of the arc as Kavin Gilder-Tilbury was right on him. It was one of 10 threes made during the game for ORU.

For the Bobcats, Emani Gant led the team with 14 points and six rebounds. He had six of the team's first 10 points, as the game was tied at 10-10 early on. It's the second game this season Gant's had 14+ points after having 19 against Houston in the season opener.

The Bobcat guards got the team closer after in the first half, following an Oral Roberts' 11-2 run to take a 21-12 lead. Phil Hawkins and Wes Davis both hit lane-penetrating jumpers, cutting the Golden Eagles' lead to 22-20. Oral Roberts later got its lead back to 30-24 heading into halftime.

Down 37-28, Texas State responded with a 6-0 run, closing the gap to 37-34. Unfortunately, ORU came right back with a 5-0 run of its own, pushing the lead back to eight with 16 minutes to go in the second half.

Texas State will continue its two-game road trip against SMU on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN3 and the radio broadcast will be available on KTSW 89.9 FM or www.txstatebobcats.com.
