SAN MARCOS, Texas – After squaring off in two conference matches on the road this past weekend, Texas State sticks to the road for a midweek match against UT Arlington at 7 p.m. Wednesday night. Both teams are 3-1 in conference play and tied for second place in the Sun Belt.

Texas State and UT Arlington are familiar foes as the Mavericks have a 39-28 all-time advantage over the Bobcats. Texas State, however, has won the last five matches played between the teams, dating back to October 20, 2010. Two of those wins were 3-0 sweeps while the last three have been 3-1 victories, including last season's match, a 25-14, 22-25, 25-17, 25-21 win on the road for Texas State.

In the last meeting, Texas State's trio of hitters bombarded the Mavericks with a combined 40 kills for
Ashlee Hilbun,
Amari Deardorff and
Alexandra Simms. Hilbun led the way with 14 while Deardorff and Simms finished with 13 each.
Caylin Mahoney was also a threat with nine kills in the match while giving out 18 assists.

Hilbun was on fire for the match, making it a double-double with 18 digs, an outstanding number for a middle blocker. She also led the team with five block assists and served up two aces.

This season, both teams have faced eight opponents in common. Texas State has the better record against like opponents at 5-3 while UT Arlington is 4-4. The difference was UTSA. Texas State faced the Roadrunners on the road and persevered for a five-set win. The Mavs dropped to UTSA in Arlington, 3-1.
