SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State has a big weekend ahead with Troy and South Alabama on the docket for Friday and Sunday matches, but the Bobcats will also celebrate the 2003 Southland Championship team's 10
th anniversary on Sunday.

The 2003 Bobcats went 23-8 on the season and an impressive 18-2 in conference play to claim the regular season championship. During the season, the team went on two separate eight-match winning streaks and their success led to Southland Coach of the Year recognition for Head Coach
Karen Chisum.

Kacee Rogers led the conference in hitting percentage (.348),
Amy Amundson led in blocks (151.0) and
Krystal Kolkhorst led the Southland in assists with 1,364 for an average of 12.29 assists per set. All three players were named All-Conference along with
Elizabeth Nwoke and
Stephanie Torregrosa. Amundson and Nwoke both made the All-Tournament Team.

Amundson's 131 block assists in 2003 are second all-time in a season at Texas State while the .348 hitting percentage for Rogers is fourth all-time in a season at the school.

Bobcat fans come out to the match against South Alabama at 1 p.m. Sunday to be a part of the recognition of this outstanding team in the Texas State Volleyball record books.

But don't forget Friday's match against Troy at 6:30 p.m. The Trojans enter Friday's match on a two-match winning streak in Head Coach Sonny Kirkpatrick's eighth season. While the Bobcats sit at 3-4 in conference play, the Trojans have built a 4-3 record against Sun Belt opponents.

Texas State and Troy have only faced each other once, and the Bobcats got the better of that match with a 3-1 victory back on Aug. 30, 1997. The match against South Alabama will be the first between the teams, but then they will both travel to Mobile, Ala., for their second meeting in as many matches next week.

South Alabama is 2-5 in the Sun Belt with a 7-10 overall record in Head Coach Amy Hendrichovsky's second season.
