Notes

At SMU

After a one-year hiatus, Texas State returns to the SMU Doubletree Invitational for the third time in the past four years. The Bobcats finished 2-1 in 2009, defeating William & Mary and Syracuse and losing to SMU. In 2010, the Bobcats finished 0-3 after matches against SMU, Texas Tech and UC Davis - the final two of which went to five sets. The team also played in a tournament in SMU in 1996 at which the Bobcats also matched up against Auburn and Baylor. Texas State posted a 1-2 record that weekend, defeating Baylor and falling to SMU and Auburn.

Versus Opponents This Weekend

The Bobcats will be in search of their first-ever road win against SMU this weekend - the team is 0-3 all-time against SMU in Dallas but has never been swept by the Mustangs. Texas State will match up against Auburn for the fourth time ever in search of the team's first win on the all-time series, and Wichita State and Texas State will play for the first time ever to wrap up the tournament.

Serving

Texas State's serving numbers have improved considerably over the team's last two matches. Texas State has nine aces compared to just five errors in its last two matches combined. Comparatively, the team had committed at least five serving errors in five of its first six matches of the season.

WAC Player of the Week

After receiving Lamar Invitational MVP honors, senior Caleigh McCorquodale was named the WAC Player of the Week for the second week of the season. McCorquodale began the week with her second double-double of the season, finishing with 20 assists, 20 digs and four blocks in a five-set win over Sam Houston State. She was then was named the Lamar Invitational MVP after leading the team to sweeps of South Carolina State, Tulane and Lamar, including the team's first win over the Cardinals in Beaumont since 2004. McCorquodale guided the Bobcat offense to a .261 team hitting percentage for the tournament, where she averaged 9.00 assists, 2.89 digs and 1.00 kills per set.
