Notes

Season Openers

The Bobcats are 23-18-1 in their history of season openers. Over their past 10 matches to begin the season, the Bobcats have a 6-4 mark. Last season, Texas State defeated Alabama State, 3-1, in the first match of the Hampton Inn Bama Bash hosted by Alabama.

Tournaments In College Station

Texas State has previously played two preconference tournaments in College Station, going 4-2 in those tournaments. In 1987, the Bobcats won two of three matches at the Texas A&M Classic, defeating UTSA and Oral Roberts while falling to the host Aggies. In 1995, Texas State played in the Post Oak Mall Invite when the team defeated Santa Clara and Lamar while dropping a match against Texas A&M.

Versus Opponents This Weekend

The Bobcats are looking to snap their 14-match losing streak against Texas A&M this weekend that dates back to 1991 when Texas State edged the Aggies 3-2 in San Marcos. Texas State is also looking for its first-ever win against Texas A&M in College Station. The Bobcats will be taking on North Dakota for the first time ever and USC for the second time after the Bobcats dropped a three-setter against the Trojans in San Marcos in 2006.

Preseason Poll

In their first and only season in the Western Athletic Conference, the Bobcats were voted fifth in the Coaches WAC Preseason Poll.

Preseason All-WAC Selection

Junior Amari Deardorff was voted to the Preseason All-WAC Team in a vote by conference coaches. The right side hitter is Texas State's top returner in both kills (332) and hitting percentage (.330) from a season ago.

Efficient Offense

The Bobcats are coming off a 2011 season in which the team ranked 18th in the NCAA in team hitting percentage at .260. The team also ranked in the top 75 in the country in aces, kills assists and blocks last season.

Returning Leaders

Texas State returns its statistical leader in three categories from last season - assists (Caleigh McCorquodale), digs (Laura Whalen) and blocks (Ashlee Hilbun).

20-Win Seasons

Texas State has won at least 20 games in a season seven times since the year 2000 and four of the past five years.
