San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State (9-15, 2-9 SLC) men's basketball team returns home to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-20, 3-8 SLC) on Wednesday, Feb. 15.  Tip-off at Strahan Coliseum is slated for 7:00 p.m.

Series

Texas State will play A&M-Corpus Christi for the 20th time in school history. The Islanders won the last meeting, 74-68 at home on Jan. 25. Texas State leads the all-time series, 10-9.

Scouting Texas State

Texas State fell to SLC-leader UT Arlington on Saturday, Feb. 11 on the road. The Mavericks captured a 73-53 win over Texas State to sweep the regular season series.

 

Texas State continues to lead the SLC in scoring offense (77.8 ppg) and is fourth in field goal percentage (.438), and third in three-point percentage (.364).

The Bobcats are led in scoring by senior Brooks Ybarra with 12.8 ppg and 3.4 rpg. Junior forward Matt Staff is second with 11.5 ppg and 7.3 rpg.  

Scouting A&M-Corpus Christi

A&M-Corpus Christi enters Wednesday's game with a 4-20 overall record, 3-8 in league play. AMCC is 2-3 in conference road games so far this season. The Islanders are on a five-game losing streak, with their last win coming against the Bobcats at home on Jan. 25.

 

AMCC most recently fell to Sam Houston State on Feb. 11 in a 61-53 loss at home. The Islanders are last in the league in scoring offense (58.0 ppg) and seventh in scoring defense at 66.7 ppg. The Islanders are shooting 39.0 percent from the floor and 30.9 percent behind the arc.

 

Jones leads the Islanders in scoring with an average of 14.4 ppg. Hawkins-Mast is second on the team in scoring with 12.2 ppg.

Texas State will fly to South Dakota for a game against the Coyotes on Feb. 18 as part of the ESPN Sears Brackbusters. The Bobcats continue their road trip with a Feb. 22 contest at Southeastern La. at 7 p.m.
