Notes

Versus Opponents This Week

Texas State will take on familiar foe UT Arlington on Thursday for the 66th time in their all-time series. This will mark the first time that the two teams will meet both as members of the Western Athletic Conference. UT Arlington holds a 40-25 lead in the all-time series, but the Bobcats have been victorious in seven of the last eight matchups. The Bobcats, who lead the all-time seris with Louisiana Tech 4-2, have won each of the last two matches with Louisiana Tech, the last of which was September 5, 2003 in San Marcos.

Win 750

Head coach Karen Chisum won her 750th career match last Saturday when the Bobcats swept Seattle U on the road. Chisum is one of just seven coaches in the country that currently has at least 750 victories.

Season High - Kills

Texas State had its season high for kills in its five-set match against Idaho last week. The Bobcats put down 58 kills against the Vandals, led by 18 from Amari Deardorff - the most for any Texas State player this season. Alexandra Simms (14 kills) and Morgan McDaniel (12 kills) each also set career highs for winners in the match.

Playing Time

Redshirt freshman setter Ali Gonzales received her first extensive playing time of the season against Idaho and took advantage of it, helping the Bobcats come back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the match at 2-2. She followed it up 16 assists as the team swept Seattle on Saturday.

Starting Every Match

Sophomore outside hitter Alexandra Simms is the only Bobcat to start all 18 matches this season.

Last Week Recap

Texas State visited Moscow, Idaho and Seattle, Washington last week as the Bobcats went on the road for the first time during conference play. The Bobcats came back from a 2-0 deficit against Idaho to tie the match at 2-2 before falling in five sets. The team regrouped against Seattle U, dropping the Redhawks in three sets to become the first WAC team to sweep Seattle U this season. The win also gave head coach Karen Chisum 750 for her career.

Dig Pink Match
The Bobcats will host their annual Dig Pink match on October 25 against Seattle U. Money will be raised in support of the Central Texas Medical Center's Breast Cancer Unit.
