San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State (8-10, 1-4 SLC) men's hoops team will hit the road this week to play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3-15, 2-4 SLC). Tip-off at the American Bank Center is slated for 7 p.m.
Series
Texas State leads the all-time series, 10-8. The Bobcats won the last meeting, 66-61, on Feb. 15, 2011 at Corpus Christi. Texas State swept the series last year.
Scouting Texas State
Texas State is coming off an 80-75 loss to UTSA at home. 4,458 fans showed up to watch the game for the fourth-best attendance in school history.
Texas State leads the SLC in scoring (79.7 ppg) and is third in field goal percentage (.446), and third in three-point percentage (.372).
After five games down in SLC play, the Bobcats are in sixth place in the West Division with an 8-10 overall record and a 1-4 record in league play.
The Bobcats are led in scoring by senior Brooks Ybarra with 12.2 ppg and 3.6 rpg. Junior forward Matt Staff is second with 11.1 ppg and 7.7 rpg. Senior Eddie Rios rounds out the top three with 10.6 ppg and 2.7 apg.
Scouting A&M-Corpus Christi
A&M-Corpus Christi enters Wednesday's game with an 3-15 overall record and 2-4 record in conference play. The Islanders are 1-6 at home so far this season and 1-3 at home in league play. The Islanders have won two of their last four games, including an 50-49 victory at Sam Houston State.
The Islanders are third in the league in blocks (4.1 bpg), but are last in the league in scoring offense at 57.6 ppg and last in field goal percentage (.385). Terence Jones is the team's leader scorer averaging 12.7 points per game and 2.6 rebounds per game. Chris Hawkins-Mast is second in scoring with 11.7 ppg.
