Notes
Home Regular Season Tournaments
The Bobcats have a 75-36 all-time record during matches when they are hosting a home tournament. Last season, Texas State went 2-1 at the CenturyLink Premier with wins over Tennessee-Martin and North Texas and a loss against Alabama.
Versus This Weekend's Opponents
Texas State does not have a losing record all-time against any of its opponents it will be facing this weekend. Additionally, the Bobcats have won the most recent contest against each of them. Texas State will take on Houston Baptist for the first time since 1971 and Louisiana-Lafayette for the first time since 1991. The team played both New Mexico State and Northwestern State last season and swept both opponents.
Recent Results
Texas State defeated West Virginia, 3-0, in the team's home opener at Strahan Coliseum on Monday. The team turned in its second highest hitting percentage of the season (.387), led by sophomore Amari Deardorff's .500 hitting percentage (11-1-20) and senior Amber Calhoun's .435 mark (15-5-23). The win in the home opener marked the fourth consecutive for the Bobcats.
Utah State Invitational All-Tournament Team
Junior setter Caleigh McCorquodale was named to the Utah State Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging more than 10 assists per set for the three-game tournament. She led the offense to a hitting percentage of over .500 in the team's first game of the tournament against Idaho State before she posted two double-doubles to close out the tournament. McCorquodale led the team in assists each of the three matches.
Southland Conference Player Of The Week Honorable Mentions
Setter Caleigh McCorquodale and libero Laura Whalen both earned Southland Conference Player of the Week Honorable Mention on Monday for their performance last weekend. McCorquodale was a Southland Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention, while Whalen was on the defensive end after she posted a team-high 42 digs during the three-match Utah State Invitational. The freshman had double-digit saves in all three matches, increasing her streak of at least 10 digs to six matches to begin her Texas State career.
Efficient Offense
Texas State put on one of the best offensive displays in the program's history against Idaho State (9/2) earlier this season. As a team, the Bobcats hit better than .450 in all three sets and finished the match with a .518 hitting percentage. The mark was just shy of the team's all-time single-match hitting percentage record of .553 set in November of 1988 against Prairie View A&M.
