Travis Jones recorded a double-double and the Texas State men's basketball team dominated Houston Baptist from start to finish to come away with a 103-76 win at home today at Strahan Coliseum. Texas State kept its home win streak alive as the Bobcats captured their 14th consecutive win in Strahan. The Bobcats entered tonight's game ranked 12th in the category.

Jones had a season-high 23 points and 11 rebounds. Eddie Rios added 17 points, Matt Staff registered 11 points and John Bowman had 10 points to round out double digit scoring for Texas State.   

Texas State's largest lead of the game came at the end of the first half. It started after a pair of free throws by Rios gave Texas State a 38-24 lead with 4:43 remaining in the period. Rios then netted a three-pointer, followed by a T. Jones layup. T. Jones made two free throws and then John Bowman recorded a jumper to make it 47-25 in the Bobcats' favor. T.Jones continued his highlight reel with a three-pointer, and then Jones and Bowman combined for three layups to end the half up 28 points.

Houston Baptist jumped out to an 11-3 run to start the second half, and the Huskies were able to trim the Bobcat lead to 16 with a little over 13 minutes remaining.

Back-to-back baskets by Nick Hinton gave Texas State its groove back, and Matt Staff rattled off four straight points to assist in the effort. In the end, the Bobcats were able to keep the Huskies at a distance and come away with the win.

The Bobcats out-rebounded the Huskies, 44-29, and scored a season-high 103 points to pass the 100-point mark for the second time this season.

Texas State hosts Houston on Tuesday, December 6 in game two of the doubleheader at Strahan Coliseum. Tip-off is slated for approximately 6 p.m. The women play Huston-Tillitson at 3:30 p.m.
