San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team will continue play away from Strahan Coliseum when it travels to New York this week for a pair of games. The Bobcats will play Long Island on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 6:00 p.m. CT. Texas State will also face Fordham on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
Series
Long Island leads the all-time series, 1-0. The Blackbirds visited San Marcos last year and came away with a 91-67 win in Strahan Coliseum in the first-ever meeting.
Scouting Texas State
Texas State (6-3) snapped its three-game win streak with a loss at Texas last week. The Bobcats will travel to New York this week in search of their first road win this season. Eddie Rios leads the Bobcats with 12.6 ppg and a team-leading 23 made free throws. Matt Staff is right behind him with 12.0 ppg and 7.1 rpg. The Bobcats average 83.6 points per outing, an 8.1 advantage over its opponents.
Scouting Long Island
Long Island (6-6) captured an 82-80 win over Saint Peters at home on Saturday to snap a two-game losing streak. Julian Boyd is averaging 15.5 ppg and 9.0 rebounds per game to lead the Blackbirds. Long Island averages 74.6 points per game and is ranked 15th in the nation in home winning streaks at 14 games.
