San Marcos, Texas - Come out to Strahan Coliseum Tuesday night to support the men's basketball team as they take on Howard Payne at 7:00 p.m. The Bobcats opened the 2011-12 season on Friday night with an impressive 101-60 win over Texas Lutheran. Six players scored in double figures and Brooks Ybarra netted 18 points as the Bobcats cruised to their 11th straight home win.

Texas State leads the series 56-34. The last time the two teams played was in 2010 with the Bobcats coming away with 102-67 victory.
Scouting Texas State
In Texas State's (1-0) season opener, it had three players earn their first-ever start for the Bobcats, including freshman Wesley Davis. Big men Matt Staff and Gordon Ball were effective down low with 13 and nine boards respectively. The Bobcats out-rebounded TLU, 54 to 31. Texas State shot 49.3 percent from the floor and 78.1 percent from the free throw line.
Scouting Howard Payne
Howard Payne (0-1) is coming off a 76-42 exhibition loss to Sam Houston State on Friday night. Brandon Irwin was the Jackets leading scorer with 13 points and four rebounds. Howard Payne was held to 19 percent shooting from the floor, while it also committed 20 turnovers in the game.

November 13, 2009 – San Marcos, Texas - Five players scored in double digits and Texas State raced past the Jackets 102-67. John Bowman, the only current Bobcat player who played in that game notched 12 points to help lead the Bobcats to victory.
