San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State volleyball team will have its final home match of the 2011 season on Tuesday before hitting the road for a pair of games in Louisiana on Thursday and Saturday. Looking to keep their current 11-game winning streak intact, the Bobcats will welcome Baylor to Strahan Coliseum on Tuesday for Senior Night before the team travels to Nicholls on Thursday and Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.

 

Entering the week, Texas State has a 20-6 overall record and 11-1 mark in the Southland Conference for second place in the West Division behind undefeated UTSA.

 

Baylor will visit San Marcos for the first time since 2006 on Tuesday as the Bobcats look to improve upon their 27-11-2 all-time record against the Bears. Baylor brings a 16-9 record and 47 RPI ranking into Tuesday's match that is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Strahan Coliseum. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the Senior Night ceremony that will take place before the match.

 

The Bobcats will then hit the road for their final four matches of the regular season, the first two of which will take place this week. The team will visit Thibodaux, La., on Thursday for a match against Nicholls (16-12, 3-9 SLC) at 7 p.m. before going to Hammond, La., on Saturday for a 12 p.m. match against Southeastern Louisiana (5-24, 1-11 SLC).

 

Tickets for the Bobcats final home match of the season can be purchased through the Texas State Athletics Ticket Office either online or at the doors of Strahan Coliseum. Doors open one hour prior to the match.

 

Those unable to attend will be able to follow along with all of the action online. Versus This Week's Opponents

Texas State holds a 27-11-2 advantage all-time against Baylor, but the Bobcats will look to win against the Bears for the first time since 1996. The two teams have played just five times since 1996 with Baylor winning all five matchups. Texas State's last win against Baylor was a five-set affair in 1996 at a tournament at SMU. Texas State owns a 7-3 record at home against Baylor.

 

The Bobcats have a nine-game winning streak against Nicholls and a 12-game winning streak against Southeastern Louisiana. Texas State's last loss against Nicholls was in 2003 and Southeastern Louisiana in 2002.

Prior to Tuesday's match with Baylor, Texas State will honor its three seniors playing their final home match of their careers - Amber Calhoun, Lindy DeGeare and Rachel Doyle.

Texas State will host its third and final Password of the season following Tuesday's match against Baylor. Password is a gathering of Bobcat volleyball friends and families to give an inside look at what is going on with the team on and off the court.

As a team, Texas State not only leads the Southland Conference but ranks 18th in the nation in team hitting percentage at .263. The Bobcats also rank in the top-100 in the nation in aces per set (23rd), kills per set (58th), blocks per set (70th) and assists per set (72nd).

 

Attendance Report

Texas State ranks 68th in NCAA Division I in attendance with an average of 766 fans per game in Strahan Coliseum. The Bobcats have the highest average attendance of any Southland Conference school.

 

RPI

Texas State is ranked 84th in the third week of RPI rankings. The Bobcats trail only UTSA who is ranked 83rd.
