San Marcos, Texas – Following four consecutive matches in San Marcos, the Texas State volleyball team will be on the road for two of its four straight contests away from Strahan Coliseum this week when the team visits UT Arlington and Northwestern State.
The Bobcats will look to push their current winning streak to four matches on Wednesday, October 5 when they play the Mavericks of UT Arlington in a 7 p.m. contest at Texas Hall. The team will then have two days off before heading to Natchitoches, La., for a 2 p.m. match against Northwestern State on Saturday, October 8.
Entering the week's action, the Bobcats have a 12-6 overall record and 3-1 mark in the Southland to sit in a tie for second place in the SLC West Division with UT Arlington. The Mavericks currently own a 7-11 overall mark to accompany their 3-1 record in conference. Meanwhile, Northwestern State begins the week with a 5-12 record and 2-3 mark in the Southland for third place in the SLC East Division.

Versus This Week's Opponents
Texas State and UT Arlington will meet for he first time this season after splitting their two matches a season ago. The Bobcats trail 23-40 against the Mavericks in the all-time series, but the Bobcats won the most recent match-up between the two teams last season in San Marcos. The Bobcats dropped the first 21 games of the all-time series against UTA dating back to 1971, but Texas State has had considerable more success of late, winning five of the past six games.
For the second time this season, Texas State and Northwestern State will play after they played earlier this season during the CenturyLink Premier. The Bobcats swept the Lady Demons in San Marcos and have won the past six games of the all-time series. Texas State will bring a 15-2 all-time record in Natchitohes on Saturday.

Offensive Player Of The Week Honorable Mention
Sophomore Amari Deardorff was chosen an SLC Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention after she led the team with an average of 3.86 kills per set and a .510 hitting percentage last week. She had a match-high 16 kills on 27 attempts with no errors for a .593 hitting percentage against Lamar before tallying 11 kills and a .409 hitting percentage against McNeese State. Deardorff's .593 hitting percentage was the second highest of any Southland Conference player this season with at least 12 kills in a match.
