SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Texas State men's and women's track and field teama hosted the Texas State Invitational this afternoon at Bobcat Stadium. The women won the dual versus UTSA 313 to 165, but the men lost to UTSA 216 to 204.50.
Leading the women on the track was Iris Darrington, who earned a pair of first-place finishes this afternoon in the 100 and 200-meter events. She won the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.91 seconds.
Steffanie Armstrong won the 1500 meters, crossing the line in 4:50.28. Valerie Hancock captured the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.50. Katie Miller won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.04.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Jessica Thomas, Renee Shepard, Morgan Canty and Darrington recorded a relay time of 47.07.
Lisa Bingham won the high jump event with a height of 1.70 meters, while Elena Horn captured the pole vault crown with a height of 4.01 meters.
In the long jump Jenna Lorentsen won with a leap of 5.50 meters and Asiya Iskakova was victorious in the triple jump with a mark of 12.23 meters. Taylor Hubbard recorded a throw of 40.15 meters in the javelin to win.
Kevin Aje registered a time of 10.57 seconds in the 100 meters to take the crown, while Gil Sheleg won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 53.19.
In the distance events, Timothy Hayes recorded a time of 9:29.84 in the 3,000 meters to win the event. Andres Herrera won the 5,000 meters in a 15:18.01.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Aaron Jones, Stefon Hargrove, Timothy Young and Aje notched a time of 41.28 to win the relay.
Dan Schmidt won the men's hammer throw with a distance of 54.44 meters.
The Bobcats will return to competition on May 1, when they travel up I-35 to compete in the Texas Invite.
