Bobcat Track and Field Performs well at Tiger Relays

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Texas State men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Tiger Relays in San Antonio. The Bobcats captured 17 first-place finishes in their second meet of the season.

Iris Darrington won the 100-meter crown after she sprinted to a time of 11.96. Renee Shepard placed third with a time of 12.43, while Latasha Maxwell and Jennie Thomas picked up sixth and seventh place finishes with times of 12.79 and 12.85.

Darrington continued her success on the track picking up a second place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 24.60. Shepard raced to a time of 26.07 to grab fifth place.

Morgan Canty recorded a personal-best in the 400 meters with a time of 57.89 to place second in the event.

In the women's 800 meters, the Bobcat women placed second through eighth with Ryann Bradford leading the way. Bradford recorded a time of 2:16.24, followed by April Murphy (2:20.01), Maria Lopez (2:20.25), Natoria Edwards (2:22.84), Lindsey Maxwell (2:23.12) and April Howell (2:24.29).

In the 400-meter hurdles all three ladies set personal bests. Katie Miller won with a time of 1:02.68. Jennie Thomas was second with a time of 1:03.48 and Amanda Rodriguez wrapped up the 1-2-3 finish with a time of 1:04.67.

Texas State continued its strong showing in the distance events with Steffanie Armstrong winning the 3,000-meter steeple with a time of 11:45.75. Dana Dolejsi was second recording a time of 12:25.33.

Heather Bullin won the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:52.01. Amanda McKinney placed fourth with a time of 4:58.78.

Jenna Lorentsen won the long jump with a leap of 5.43 meters (17-09.75). Asiya Iskakova leaped to victory in the triple jump with a mark of 11.86 meters (38-11.00).

Katie Bakke and Jalisa Hall finished 1-2 in the discus with throws of 42.74 meters (140-03) and 38.55 meters (126-06), respectively. Taylor Hubbard won the javelin with a throw of 36.80 meters (120-09).

The women's 4x400-meter relay improved its time as they raced to a first place finish in 3:52.68.

The men had success just like the women did as Aaron Jones and Stefon Hargrove earned the top 2 spots in the 100 meters. Jones won with a time of 10.94 and Hargrove was second with a time of 10.99. Hargrove also won the 200 meters in a time of 21.88.

Gerry Kammer registered a personal-best in the 400-meters winning the event in 48.69.

William Taudien captured first place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.37 and Will Stewart was second in a time of 1:56.46.

Gil Sheleg won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.28 and Tyler Crump placed third with a personal-best time of 56.06.

Clint Carr won the javelin with a throw of 53.90 meters (176-10). Logan Cunningham finished third in the pole vault with a height of 4.90 meters (16-00.75).

In the triple jump Goldstein Okafor captured first with a leap of 13.98 meters (45-10.50). Collins Ekeocha was second in the long jump with a distance of 6.59 meters (21-07.50).

The men's 4x400-meter relay posted a time f 3:16.78 to win the event.
