CONWAY, Ark. - The Texas State softball team loss to Central Arkansas 3-1 this afternoon at Farris Field in Conway, Ark. The Bobcats fall to 17-15 and 12-4 in Southland play while the Bears improve to 14-22, 4-8. The Bears ended a nine-game losing streak to the Bobcats to beat Texas State for the first time in school history.
Central Arkansas scored the first run of the game when Preslie Long reached home after a Bobcat fielding error in the third inning.
Texas State responded in the fourth inning to tie the game after an error by the Central Arkansas shortstop that allowed Allyce Rother to score.
With the game tied at 1-All in the fifth inning, Rachel Baucom hit a two-run homer to give the Bears the lead and eventually the win.
The Bobcats tallied five hits, but committed two errors on the day. Sophomore pitcher Chandler Hall suffered the loss for the Bobcats dropping her record to 12-8. Hall fanned five batters and walked four.
Freshman Bradie Baker picked up the win for Central Arkansas after she struck out five batters, walked six and allowed zero earned runs.
The Bobcats and the Bears will play a double header tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m.
