SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Texas State softball team (20-11, 12-6 SLC) fell to Nicholls (20-11, 12-6 SLC), 1-0 today in a late inning surge by the Colonels. Natalie Travasos tallied the game-winning RBI in the top of the seventh to give the Colonels their only win of the weekend.

Five different Bobcats recorded hits, but it wasn't enough to win the ballgame. Chandler Hall (14-9) suffered the loss in the circle, allowing one run and three hits, while fanning 10 batters in 7.0 innings.

Texas State had runners in scoring position with two outs in the second inning after back-to-back singles by Jenna Emery and Chandler Hall, but a fly out to centerfield ended the Bobcats hopes of registering a run.

Both teams were held scoreless through the first six innings of play, with only five runners combined reaching third base.

Nicholls recorded the first run of the game in the top of the seventh, after Audrey Wood walked and advanced to third on a wild pitch to place the Colonels in scoring position. Wood scored on a Natalie Travasos single to left field giving the Colonels the game-winning run.

Texas State will take a break from conference play when it heads to Denton, Texas on Wednesday, April 14 to face North Texas in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Bobcats return home on Wednesday, April 21 when they host Houston at 6:00 p.m.
