HAMMOND, La. - The Texas State softball run ruled Southeastern Louisiana in route to a 10-1 victory over the Lady Lions at North Oak Park this afternoon. Texas State swept the series to improve its record to 17-13, 12-3 in the SLC.

Texas State started off game three of the series just like it did in its two games on Saturday, by scoring in the first inning. With runners on the corners the Southeastern La. catcher made a bad throw to second on a Haley Lemons steal, providing room at the plate for Kristina Tello to score.

Designated player McKenzie Baack recorded her second home run of the season after stroking the ball over the left center wall to start the second inning. Center fielder Jordan Logan tried to catch the ball, but there was just enough  power under it putting it out of Logan's reach.

Chandler Hall dug herself out of a hole when Southeastern La. had the bases loaded with one out in the second. Hall kept her composure as the Bobcats got out of the inning without any runs scored after a fly out and a strikeout.

An RBI single by Lemons scored Tello for the third run of the game as the Bobcats continued to tack on runs.

Texas State kept the runs coming as Leah Boatright hit her third homer of the week and fifth overall to lead off the fourth inning. Boatright started a hitting spree that resulted in seven runs on six hits, boosting the Bobcats lead to 10-0 and putting the game out of reach for the Lady Lions.

Southeastern La. used three pitchers versus the Bobcats, but the Lady Lions were unable to come away with the win. The Lady Lions lone run of the game came on a solo homer from Chelsea Takacs in the fifth inning.

Texas State batted .458 as a team to hold off the Lady Lions and earn its 39th victory over SLU.

Chandler Hall (12-6) earned all three wins this weekend over SLU. Kristina Tello finished 2-for-3 with two runs and a double.

Texas State travels to Austin, Texas on Wednesday, March 31 to face the University of Texas at 6:30pm at McCombs Field. Both teams played last Wednesday, where the Bobcats won the decision 9-7 on a walk-off homer by Leah Boatright.
