Texas State Announces It 2010 Football Schedule
After being nationally ranked in the final NCAA FCS Top 25 rankings for the second straight year and posting a 7-4 record, Texas State University announced its 2010 football schedule that includes six home games, a team from Conference USA and a challenging Southland Conference slate in 2010.
"The 2010 season is going to be an exciting year for Bobcat fans," said Texas State athletic director Larry Teis. "We play a quality FBS school and have six home games for the sixth consecutive year. We also play nine of our 11 games in the State of Texas, giving our fans the opportunity to follow the Bobcats."
The Bobcats kick off the 2010 season on September 4 when they travel to Houston and face the 2009 West Division champion in Conference USA and a team that boasted a 10-4 record last year.
After opening the season at Houston, Texas State returns to the friendly confines of Bobcat Stadium for three non-conference home games after posting a 4-2 record in home games last season.
The first home game is against Southern Arkansas on September 11. The Bobcats also play home games against two members of the Great West Conference in 2010. Texas State plays host to Cal Poly for the first time since 2007 on September 18 before concluding its non-conference schedule on September 25 against Southern Utah. It will be the third straight year that the Bobcats and Thunderbirds square off on the gridiron.
Following the Southern Utah game, Texas State will travel to Hammond, La., on October 9 and open its Southland Conference schedule against Southeastern Louisiana.
Then, the Bobcats return to Bobcat Stadium for two straight home games when they play host to Nicholls on October 16 and Northwestern State on October 23.
After traveling to defending SLC champion Stephen F. Austin on October 30, Texas State plays its final SLC home game against Central Arkansas on November 6.
The Bobcats close out the 2010 regular season with road games at McNeese State on Nov. 13 and at Sam Houston State on Nov. 20.
