TULSA, Okla. - The Creighton Bluejays earned an extra inning win over the Texas State softball team this morning at the Embassy Suites Invitational. Both teams headed into the eighth inning scoreless, with the international run rule in effect. Creighton managed to record a two-run homer against the Bobcats that eventually gave them the 2-0 win.
With one runner on base, Creighton's Sinkler hit a home run over the left field wall to give the Bluejays a 2-0 advantage over the Bobcats in the top of the eighth.
Texas State had runners on first and third with two outs in the eighth, but a groundout by Haley Lemons ended the inning and the game. The loss drops Texas State to 3-10 overall.
Chandler Hall pitched 7.2 innings on the mound, working out 31 batters and tallying seven strikeouts. Anna Marie Taylor took the loss for the day, after allowing two hits and two runs in half an inning of work.
The Bobcats finished the game with two hits, but tacked on two errors in the process. Creighton registered two runs off five hits, while committing zero errors.
The Bluejays improve their all-time series lead over the Bobcats to 7-3.
The Bobcats return home to host UT Arlington at Bobcat Field in mid-week action. Texas State and UTA will play a double header on Tuesday, March 3 beginning at 4:00pm, and will return to Bobcat Field at 2:00pm on Wednesday, March 3.
