NORMAN, Okla. - The Texas State men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Sooner Invite this afternoon at the John Jacobs Track Complex in Norman, Okla.

Kayla Smith placed second in the women's shot put with a mark of 12.22 meters (40-01.25). Kelsey Titzman recorded a throw of 12.13 meters (39-09.75), while Jiovanna Martinez finished fifth with a distance of 11.83 meters (38-09.75).

In the weight throw Titzman finished fourth with a mark of 14.22 meters (46-08.00). Smith was fifth with a distance of 13.88 meters (45-06.50).

Dan Schmidt registered a mark of 13.56 meters (44-06.00) for eighth place in the men's shot put, followed by a fourth place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 17.23 meters (55-06.50).

The men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Norman, Okla. on Feb. 27-28 to compete in the Southland Conference Indoor Championships.
