San Marcos, Texas
– Despite an 11-point effort by #J.B. Conley#, Texas State dropped a 91-67 decision at home to visiting Long Island University tonight at Strahan Coliseum. Tonight's loss is the first of the season for the Bobcats as they fall to 1-1 overall.

Senior forward Tony Bishop registered his second consecutive double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for the Bobcats was senior forward Cameron Johnson with 10 points.

Johnson was the first player to score on the night with a long jumper for two. The 2-0 lead was the only time Texas State led in the game.

Long Island took an 8-4 lead with 15:47 to go in the period. #A.J. Stewart# trimmed the lead to 8-6, but a three-point play by Long Island gave the Blackbirds an 11-6 lead.

The Blackbirds took an 18-point lead, with two minutes remaining after a layup by Kyle Johnson. John Bowman retaliated with a three, but Long Island was able to stretch the lead to 20 going into halftime.

Johnson once again was the first player to score, this time with a free throw to start the second half. Unfortunately, the Bobcats could not get on a run as most baskets they made were eventually matched by the Blackbirds.

Conley was the top scorer in the second half as he netted 10 points, but it was not enough as Texas State fell to Long Island 91-67 at home.

Long Island's Kyle Johnson led all scorers with 22 points. Jamal Olasewere added 12 points and Julian Boyd grabbed 11 boards.

Texas State will hit the road this weekend for its first road game of the season, when it travels to Edinburg, Texas. The Bobcats will play UT Pan American on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at UTPA Fieldhouse
