MARQUETTE, Wisc. - Texas State volleyball rounded out play in the Marquette Invitational this afternoon, losing 3-0 (24-26, 21-25, 19-25), to Butler in its final match. Junior setter Shelbi Irvin recorded 13 assists and 10 digs for her first double-double of the season. Texas State finishes the weekend 0-3, with its overall record moving to 1-6.

AJ Watlingon led all Bobcats with eight kills for a .333 attack percentage. The first set was the closest of the night as it saw eight ties and three lead changes taking the set into extra points, but Butler was able to take the two point advantage and win the set 26-24.

Texas State dropped set two 21-25 after hitting .083. The Bobcats were unable to grab a hold of the match in set three after tying the set just once. Butler won the match improving to 6-3 on the year.

Texas State recorded 33 kills (.106) to Butler's 42 kills (.182). Jessica Weynand finished the weekend with 44 kills and 42 digs. Libero Ally Buitron had 12 digs to wrap up the tournament.

Up next for Texas State will be Baylor on Tuesday, Sept. 8 in Waco at 7:00pm. This will be the fifth straight year the two teams have met. Texas State leads the all-time series 21-10-2.

The Bobcats return home to host the CenturyTel Premier on Friday, Sept. 11 -12. Texas State will face Hofstra, Texas Southern and Texas A&M over the course of the two-day tournament. The Bobcats open up the tourney on Friday at 12:00pm against Texas Southern and play Hofstra at 7:00pm. They will match up against Texas A&M on Saturday at 2:00pm to close out the CenturyTel Premier.
