SAN MARCOS, Texas - Despite dropping the first set, Texas State rallied back for a 3-1 (19-25, 25-9, 25-22, 25-18) win over Conference USA foe Houston for its fourth win at home this season. The Bobcats improve their record to 4-8, with one more weekend of non-conference play to go. Houston falls to, 2-9.

Mo Middleton records a season-high 18 kills and 10 digs to register her second double-double of the season. Also, totaling double-digit kills were Jessica Weynand and AJ Watlington with 10 apiece. Caleigh McCorquodale and Brittany Collins did their share as Collins had a double-double with 20 assists and 10 digs. McCorquodale notched 18 assists on the day.

Houston took the first set 25-19, but Texas State responded in the second to tie the match a 1-1, with a score of, 25-9.

Texas State grabbed control of the second set early on and went on a roll. The only tie of the set was at 2-2, before the Bobcats started to build a bit of a lead over the Cougars. Texas State forced Houston to use both of their timeouts as they were able to hold the Cougars to just nine points in the set. The Bobcats hit .357, while holding Houston to .000 and just five kills.

"We started out very sluggish tonight," said head coach Karen Chisum. "I was a little disappointed in the way we came out and I was pretty tough on them between games one and two. They listened, then came back and played very well in the final three games."

Sets three and four told a different story as the game became a little intense as the two teams battled point-for-point. With the score tied at 18-All in the third, Middleton registered a kill down the middle, forcing the Cougars to take a timeout. Coming out of timeout McCorquodale registered two straight service aces, bumping the Bobcats lead to 21-18. With the score at 24-22, Amber Calhoun sent the ball into Cougar territory on the left side to secure the set point and a 2-1 lead into the fourth set.

After starting the fourth set down, 4-0, Texas State responded with six points of its own to garner a 6-5 lead. With the scoreboard reading, 11-11, Texas State took command of the match and rolled to a 25-18 win.

The Bobcats had a .264 attack percentage, with 58 kills and 53 assists. Houston ended the match with 39 kills for a hitting percentage of .160 and 36 assists. Kinsey Cave led the Cougars with 16 kills and seven digs, while Tara Roenicke had 33 assists for Houston.

Texas State hits the road this weekend as they travel to Dallas to play in the SMU Tournament. The Bobcats will play SMU, William & Mary and Syracuse.

"Our confidence is so much better right now," added Chisum. "We're going over to SMU to win the tournament, because when we come back it is time for conference. We're 4-1 at home and we want to keep the trend going."

They will return home next week when they enter Southland Conference play to host A&M-Corpus Christi and UTSA on Thursday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 26.
