Riverside, California - The Texas State women's soccer team could not grasp a victory this weekend, falling to the UC-Riverside Highlanders 1-0 in an overtime decision Sunday afternoon at UCR Soccer Stadium.

Both the Bobcats and Highlanders are now 1-2-0 on the season.

In an intense, foul ridden game, Texas State and Riverside were signaled for a combined 29 fouls and five yellow cards.

Texas State played with 10 people on the field midway throughout the second half and managed to hold off the Highlanders and force an overtime tilt. UC-Riverside attempted 18 shots and sophomore Deborah Ross recorded ten saves on the day.

But with just over a minute off the clock in the first overtime period, Riverside's Sally Yunker managed a shot passed Ross and scored the game-winning goal from 10 yards out on an assist from Ashley Parks.

The Bobcats took 11 shots and were led by freshman Taylor Person with four tries, including two shots-on-goal.

Highlander keeper Jessica White recorded seven saves to earn the win.

The Bobcats return to the field Sept. 4-6 when they travel to Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the Samford Bulldog Invitational. Texas State will face tournament host Samford and Tennessee Tech on the weekend.
