Holbrooks, Goldschmidt Named All-Americans

Tucson, Arizona - The Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American baseball teams were announced today by Collegiate Baseball newspaper and Texas State Bobcats Kane Holbrooks and Paul Goldschmidt were named to the list, taking home the first-ever honor for Texas State.

Holbrooks boasts a 10-1 record on the season, a mark that ranks fourth all-time in the Texas State record books for most wins in a single season. Holbrooks' 3.34 ERA holds one of 10 places on the second team. The senior compiles the mark in 94 1/3 innings and has struck out 56 batters to date.

Goldschmidt received third team honors at first base. The Woodlands, Texas native posts a .353 batting average with a team-best 17 home runs and 85 RBI. Goldschmidt holds the career mark for home runs with 35 in his three seasons with the Bobcats.

The Texas State pair will continue their 2009 season Friday afternoon at the NCAA Championship Tournament. The Bobcats will face the Eagles of Boston College at UFCU-Disch Falk Field at 1 p.m.
