SAN MARCOS - Kyle Kubitza went 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run home runs and Kane Holbrooks earned his ninth win of the season as the Texas State Bobcat baseball team collected a 9-4 victory from the McNeese State Cowboys Friday night at Bobcat Field.

Texas State improves to 16-5 in league action, while McNeese State drops to 8-14. In tonight's SLC games, Southeastern Louisiana took a 5-3 victory over Sam Houston State and SFA knocked off UT Arlington, giving Texas State a 2 ½ game lead in the standings.

The Bobcats extended its streak to ten-straight games when a four-run third inning started things off. Tyler Sibley hit his seventh home run of the season with a solo shot on two outs and Spenser Dennis notched an RBI single with a base hit through the left side. With Prestridge left on second base after reaching on a single up the middle, Ben Theriot pushed the pair across with a deep double to left center.

Holbrooks shut down the Cowboys from the mound allowing just two hits over four innings, but the foe doubled the tally in the top of the fifth and used the pair of hits to score its first run.

But Texas State stretched its lead for an 8-1 ball game in the bottom of the fifth with back-to-back base hits from Dennis and Theriot. A sacrifice fly from Kyle Livingstone allowed Dennis to score and in the next at-bat, Kubitza cleared the bases with a homer over right field.

A scoreless sixth went by and it was McNeese that struck again in the top of the seventh for its final run on an RBI double from Steven Irvine.

Up 7-2, Kubitza cleaned house again with his second two run home run in the bottom of the seventh to aid the victory.

Jonathan Conrad took the loss for McNeese State and falls to 2-4 on the season.

Theriot went 3-for-3 to lead the Bobcats at the plate.

The Bobcats will look to keep the ten-game winning streak alive tomorrow afternoon with a 2 p.m. first pitch. Zach Tritz is slated to face left-hander Tyler Davis.
