The Texas State women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss against Northwestern State in the first round of the 2009 Southland Conference Tournament at the HEB Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
The Bobcats won the number-two doubles match when Ashley Ellis and Nyssa Peele defeated Kathrin Lange and Bianca Schulz 8-4.
But, Northwestern won the doubles point in the team score when Kiki Kruse and Mackenzie Farmer suffered an 8-4 loss against Adna Curukovic and Daniela Posada 8-4 in the number three doubles match. Andrea Giraldo and Lainy Chafitz gave Olga Bazhanova and Dragana Colic all they could handle before the suffered a close 8-6 loss in the top doubles match.
The Demons won three straight singles matches and that ended Texas State's 2009 season. Ashley Ellis suffered a 6-1, 6-2 loss against Bazhanova in the number two singles match. Schulz also recorded a 6-2, 6-3 win over Chafitz in the number four battle and Colic defeated Farmer 6-2, 6-1 in the number-six matchup.
Texas State ends their season with an 11-7 overall record, and was 7-4 in Southland Conference play.
