Albuquerque, N.M. - Softball knocks off New Mexico 8-4 to take three-game sweep over the Lobos. The Bobcats scored in five out of the seven innings to defeat New Mexico. Chandler Hall went 2-for-3, with two runs and an RBI. Ryan Kos was 2-for-4, with two runs and two RBI to help lead Texas State to a win today.
Chandler Hall scored the game's first run when Allyce Rother singled to left field, driving in Hall from third. In the third inning, Kristina Tello scored on a sacrifice fly from Jenna Emery to put the Bobcats up 2-0.
The Lobos got on the board in the bottom of the third when Katie Gilmore hit a two-run homer to right center.
Alex Newton doubled down the left field line in the fourth to send Ryan Kos home. Two batters later, McKenzie Baack reached base on an error by left field, which gave room for Newton to give the Bobcats their fourth run of the day.
Kos recorded her third home run of the season, when she sent the ball flying over the right center wall sending C. Hall home on the play.
The Bobcats scored two more runs in the sixth inning, bringing the final score to 8-4 for Texas State's third straight win and 25th of the season.
Chandler Hall earned the win on the mound after pitching 4.1 innings, recording three strikeouts. Katie Garnett picked up the save after pitching 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit and zero runs.
Texas State has a week off before returning to action on Tuesday, April 7 when they travel to Waco to face the Baylor Bears. Game time is set for 6:30pm.
