Softball Falls Short in Loss to UTEP

SAN MARCOS, Texas - In a hard fought game where the pitching on both sides was intense, the Texas State Bobcats battled visiting UTEP to a 2-0 loss this afternoon at Bobcat Field. The Bobcats fall to 22-12. The Miners improve to 16-16.

UTEP's Jennifer Davis hit a two run homer in the top of the third to score the game's only two runs. Diana Parada reached first base on a walk and with a 3-2 count Davis hit one right over the right field wall.

Texas State was able to tally three hits, but failed to score any at the plate. Alex Newton, Jenna Emery and Chandler Hall were all able to gather a hit, as the Bobcats finished the game with a .266 batting average.

Hall finished her day on the mound allowing just four hits and two earned runs in 27 batters faced, for just her sixth loss of the season.

Texas State hits the road this weekend as they travel west to face the University of New Mexico. The Bobcats will play through the weekend as their games will be on Friday at 7:00pm, Saturday at 7:00pm and Sunday at 1:00pm.
