Softball Takes Two from Central Arkansas

SAN MARCOS, Texas - Leah Boatright, Jenna Emery and Chandler Hall all hit home runs this afternoon to help lead the Bobcat softball team to two wins over visiting Central Arkansas. Texas State won the first game, 4-2 and the second game, 7-2. The Bobcats improve to 21-11, 13-4 SLC. The Bears fall to 15-16, 6-5 SLC.

Jenna Emery doubled to left field sending Leah Boatright home for the first score of the game in the second inning.

The balls went flying in the bottom of the fourth when Leah Boatright reached first base on a single down the right field line. Jenna Emery followed up with a two-run homer to left field. Pitcher Chandler Hall stepped up to the plate following in Emery's footsteps as she hit her second homerun of the season to right field to give the Bobcats a 4-0 edge.

The Bears came back in the fifth inning when Rachel Baucom singled to left center driving in two runs for UCA. UCA was not able to put any more runs up on the board as they dropped game one, 4-2.

In the second game the Bobcats tallied four runs in the first inning. Taylor Hall scored on a Boatright single. Ryan Kos batted next hitting the ball to right center for a double and an RBI. Back-to-back singles by the Bobcats saw two more runs come home before the inning ended.

Boatright hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to add to the Bobcats 7-1 edge over the Bears.

Chandler Hall and Katie Garnett both earned wins on the mound today as the duo combined for 13 strikeouts and one earned run this afternoon. Texas State batted .261 today, with three players batting 600+. They held the Bears to batting average of .231, as they committed four errors on the day.

C. Hall went 3-for-4 (.750) with a home run and two RBI. Boatright was 4-for-6 (.667) with four runs, including a home run and four RBI. Emery was 3-for-5 (.600) with two runs scored including her home run, a double and three RBI.

Tomorrow's game versus Central Arkansas at Bobcat Field will start at 12:00pm.
