Softball Rolls Past Southeastern La. 10-0 and 11-1

SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Texas State softball team rolled past Southeastern Louisiana today, taking both games from the Lady Lions 10-0 (5) and 11-1 (5). The Bobcats improve to 18-9, 10-2 SLC. The Lady Lions fall to 8-15, 0-9 SLC. The win was an overall team effort as they had eight players hit .300+ in both games combined.

The Bobcats beat the Lady Lions 10-0 in the first game of today's double header. It was the second-straight run rule game for Texas State.

Texas State got on the board early when Taylor Hall scored off a Leah Boatright single to left center.

In the second inning Chandler Hall led off with a solo homer to right center. Jenna Emery soared a double to left center, before advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt by Megan Parten. Emery scored at home on an error by shortstop to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.

C. Hall led off the fourth inning with a single up the middle. Batting next for the Bobcats was Emery who tripled to center, driving in Hall. Parten walked and Kristina Tello bunted to first to load the bases. Katelyn Thomason walked Taylor Hall driving in Emery for the run. Leah Boatright tripled to right center, scoring T. Hall, Tello and Parten. Ryan Kos stepped up to the plate next sending the ball over the right center wall for her first homer of the season and collecting the RBI on Boatright.

Texas State scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 10-0 lead to win the game. The Bobcats outhit the Lady Lions 9-4, with the Lady Lions collecting one error.

The second game was almost the same as the first as the Bobcats were victorious with an 11-1 (5) win over the Lady Lions. Texas State tallied 11 runs on 13 hits with one error. The Lady Lions were held to four hits, one run and one error.

Chandler Hall captured her 11th win of the season, pitching four innings throwing six strikeouts.

Kristina Tello finished the day going 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. Chandler Hall went 4-for-6 with three runs, including a home run and an RBI.

The Bobcats will hit the road on Tuesday as they travel to Thibodaux, La. to face Nicholls on the 17th and 18th with a double header scheduled for Tuesday at 5:00pm and 7:00pm. They will play at 12:00pm on Wednesday. Texas State will return home on Saturday, March 21 as they host Central Arkansas at 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Sunday's game will start at 12:00pm.
