Errors Prove Costly in Softball Loss

SAN MARCOS, Texas - Too many errors during the Texas State softball game this afternoon versus McNeese State haunted the Bobcats as they fell 5-2 to the Cowgirls. The Bobcats are now 12-7, 4-2 SLC, while the Cowgirls improve to 9-14, 5-1 SLC.

The Bobcats got off to a hot start this afternoon when McKenzie Baack hit a two-run homer to right center to give Texas State a 2-0 lead.

McNeese State put three runs on the board in the top of the fifth; all unearned to take the 5-2 win over the Bobcats. The Cowgirls win the three-game series, 2-1.

Neither team had more than five hits today as the Bobcats finished with two runs on five hits, while committing five errors. McNeese State had five runs on four hits with zero errors.

Baack led all Bobcats going 2-for-3 on the day with a two-run RBI. Taylor Hall was 2-for-2 as she had two singles to finish the day. Pitcher Chandler Hall finishes the week with a 3-1 record. Today she allowed two hits, for four runs, one earned run and three strikeouts in 4.2 innings on the mound.

Texas State will host the University of Texas on Tuesday, March 3 at 7:00pm.
