DELAND, Fla. - The Texas State Softball team lost their first game of the day this morning to Kent State. The Bobcats played their third game of the Stetson Lead-Off Classic at Patricia Wilson Field.
The Bobcats were not able to catch a rhythm this morning having left four players on base through seven innings. Alex Newton and Allison Snow were the only two Bobcats to record a hit. Newton doubled in the sixth inning getting all the way to third before being left on base.
Katie Garnett pitched all seven innings for the Bobcats, bringing her record to, 1-1. She finished the game having allowed five hits, one run and one error. She recorded four strikeouts to complete the day.
As a team Texas State recorded two hits, but the 11 strikeouts proved to be costly for the Bobcats, dropping their overall record to, 1-2. Kent State improves to, 3-0.
The Bobcats play again today at 12:30 p.m. when they face Bethune-Cookman. Texas State won the first game against Bethune-Cookman yesterday when they came away on top, 2-0.
