DELAND, Fla. - The Texas State Bobcat Softball team drop 2-1 decision to Stetson in their second game of the Stetson Lead-Off Classic today. Alex Newton scored the Bobcats only run of the afternoon, her first of the season.
Stetson got on the board early as they managed to come away with a run in the top of the first. Texas State responded with a run of its own as Newton stole home to record the Bobcats lone run of the game.
Both teams were held at a 1-1 tie until the top of the fifth inning when Andrea Magliori of Stetson homered to right center giving the Hatters the lead.
The Bobcats were not able to score again and fell to the Hatters 2-1, losing their first game of the season and dropping to an overall record of, 1-1.
Chandler Hall pitched all seven innings for the Bobcats allowing only five hits and tallying only two errors in 30 batters faced.
Four Bobcats recorded at least one hit, with Hall striking out 11 batters.
Texas State will return to action tomorrow when they take on Kent State at 10 a.m. and Bethune-Cookman at 12:30 p.m.
