BATON ROUGE, La. - The Texas State softball team lost to LSU this afternoon in its third game of the Easton Purple and Gold Challenge. The Bobcats were not able to catch a rhythm as they fell, 8-0 to the Tigers in five.
The Bobcats were held hitless for the first time this season, as they dropped their game to the Tigers.
The Tigers came out swinging, recording four runs in the first inning. Three straight singles and a walk put LSU up on the Bobcats early in the game. LSU scored one run in the fourth, before Anissa Young hit a three-run homer in the fifth to end the game.
The Bobcats did not record a hit or run in the game, while tallying two errors. Katie Garnett was the losing pitcher falling to a record of 4-3.
Play in the LSU Purple and Gold Challenge will continue on Sunday, when the teams enter championship play. The Bobcats will play their first game at 9:00am and will wait to see who they play in their final game. Stay tuned to www.txstatebobcats.com for updates.
