Natchitoches, LA -
Jaimie Leake scored the lone goal for Texas State Sunday afternoon, proving to be all the team would need to remain unbeaten in Southland Conference action, and posting a 1-0 win over the Northwestern State Lady Demons.
Texas State improves to 7-5, while NSU drops to 7-6 overall and 0-2 in league play, falling in the team's fourth-straight game.
The Lady Demons fiercely matched the Bobcats on the field, posting 10 shots to Texas State's 11. Keeper Mandi Mawyer stopped all four attempts on goal to hold back the attack. NSU's Lindy Strahan recorded four saves as well, but Leake broke through in 39th minutes for Texas State's edge.
After the Lady Demons defense deflected a Bobcat shot attempt, Leake was there for the put back eight yards out into the right side of the box. The goal, assisted by Kendell Webber, was the first of Leake's career.
Texas State moves on from the victorious weekend to host Lamar and McNeese State at the Bobcat Soccer Complex on Oct. 9 and 11, respectively.
