SAN MARCOS - After sickness took away over half of the Texas State Bobcats squad, the team matched twelve players against a Baylor army Friday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex and walked away with a victorious 0-0 double-overtime tie.

Tonight's game marks the third overtime feat this season for Texas State and the team will head into Sunday's match with Houston Baptist with a 3-3-2 record. Baylor shift to 4-4-1.

"Tonight was an overall great team effort," said head coach Kat Conner. "We had 12 players on the field and we basically set a standard for Bobcat soccer. We never gave up and they battled not for themselves for each other."

The battle came to life in the final minutes of overtime when the `Cats recorded all four of its shots on goal. Andrea Grifo set up three corner kicks that played nicely toward the net and in the 102nd minute, Lauren Lewis fired a shot, but BU goalie Courtney Seelhorst made the save. The set up was attempted twice more, with Britney Curry having a chance at a header and shot, but Seelhorst remained solid and set up a wall Texas State could not break.

Seelhorst and the Bears defense held Texas State to 13 shots throughout the 110 minutes of play, with six in the second period and five in the final overtime. The Bobcat defense showed heart as well, limiting the Bears offense to just ten shots, completely shutting them out in the final period.

Curry led Texas State's short-staffed offense with five shots, two of which landed on goal. In the 65th minute, the sophomore forward nearly changed the tone of the game after breaking away straight down the middle of the field, dribbling to 20 yards out and firing the ball at the net. Seelhost, again, showed saving grace and tapped Curry's shot just slightly over the top of the goal.

"We definitely got stronger as the game went on," added Conner. "You could see the desire in their eyes and longer we played, the better we performed."

Maddie Piranio and Kelsey Bernard both had great looks toward the net in the latter portion of the game, however each of their shots grazed just wide on the try. Mandi Mawyer maintained the net for the Bobcats in the decision, earning three saves while spending the entirety of the game between posts.

The Bobcats will face Houston Baptist Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
