Texas State Football Notes versus Northern Colorado Sept. 20, 2008
-Texas State captains for the game were seniors Morris Crosby, Donovan King, John Gilley and junior Bradley George.
-Northern Colorado won the toss electing to receive first, signaling a fair catch on the kickoff off to start the game.
-Punter, Ben Follis started his first game for the Bobcats as a true freshman.
-The Bobcats entered this afternoon's match up ranked No. 14 in the FCS in rushing defense with a 70 yards per game average.
-Senior wide receiver Cameron Luke finished the day with four catches for 70 yards, extending his receiving streak to 13 games. Luke started his streak on Sept. 1, 2007 against Cal Poly where he caught two passes for 38 total yards.
- With a total of 1,414 career yards, Luke has now moved up to No. 7 on the Texas State all-time career receiving yards list.
-Without a touchdown today, Luke ended his five-game scoring streak.
- Toon made his first start at quarterback today, completing 18 passes on 32 attempts for 227 yards and a touchdown. Today marked the third straight game this season where Toon has passed for 100+ yards and his fourth overall. He also threw for 200+ yards for the second straight game this season. He made completions to seven different receivers in today's game.
-Karrington Bush completed an 11 yard run on the Bobcats first fourth down of the game. Texas State is now two-of-two on the year on fourth down conversions.
- Clint Toon made a 30-yard completion to Alvin Canady with 9:50 left to go in the first half to tie the game at 7-7. The touchdown marked Canady's first of the season.
- Canady had a five-yard touchdown run for his third on the day, to give the Bobcats a 35-28 lead with 0:20 to go in the third. The Bears responded with a 75-yard touchdown catch to tie the game at the end of the third.
- A fumble recovery by Texas State at the one yard line with 19.2 seconds to go on the clock sealed the game for the Bobcats. A 29-yard field goal by Andrew Ireland gave the Bobcats the lead with 2:11 left in the game.
-Texas State had three interceptions today against Northern Colorado. The three were the first of the season for the Bobcats.
