Waco, TX - After putting up a forceful fight early Tuesday night, the Texas State Bobcats tenacity fell, allowing the Baylor Bears to start a comeback too hard to overcome and the `Cats fell 7-2 at Ferrell Field.

The loss shifts the `Cats overall record to 27-24 and with three contests remaining, head coach Ty Harrington will walk away with a successful season.

Baylor got a glance at a completely different Bobcat squad from last month when the `Cats opened fire in the first inning. On two outs, Paul Goldschmidt doubled to right field for the rallying hit and Lance Loftin backed it with a launch to right field, but Baylor's Aaron Miller robbed the slugger with a snag just over the fence.

Texas State fought back in the next frame, starting it off with back-to-back base hits from Ben Theriot and Elliott Babcock. Theriot was caught stealing to erase one base runner, but Aaron Fuller still put two runs on the scoreboard after blasting his first pitch to right center, his second home run of the season, for the `Cats first lead of the game.

But Baylor answered in the bottom of the fifth with a base hit and assistance from the Maroon mound. A wild pitch moved a respective Raynor Campbell to second base, but a walk and a hit batter filled the diamond. BU took advantage of the scene with a single through the right side that drove in the tying runs. A sacrifice fly and another single doubled BU's tally, giving the foe a 4-2 lift.

Solid relief from Kane Holbrooks held the Bears scoreless over the next two innings, but once again the Bears latched on to a Texas State pitcher. Josh Walter came on in the eighth inning and Aaron Miller slammed a three-run homer to right center to give Baylor a 7-2 edge for the victory.

Borski was handed the loss despite a three hit-four run 4.1 innings on the mound.

Randall Linebaugh was credited with the win and Craig Fritsch earned his third save of the season.

Texas State outhit Baylor 8-6 and Babcock led the offense with a 2-for-4 outing and scored one run. Goldschmidt also notched a pair of hits.

The `Cats next appearance will be a three-game Southland Conference finale with Texas-San Antonio. Game one is slated for Thursday in San Antonio at 6 p.m. and the `Cats will play out the final two games at Bobcat Field, with Friday and Saturday slated for 6 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
