Final Stats
SAN MARCOS -
Kenn Kasparek tossed the Texas Longhorns 20th no-hitter in school history Tuesday night as he led an 11-0 charge over the Texas State Bobcats at Disch-Falk Field. The loss is the third of the season against the Longhorns and drops the `Cats overall record to 24-19.
Kasparek is the only pitcher to hold a no-hitter over the Bobcats in school history. The right-hander completed the feat after shutting down 26 at-bats and notching nine strikeouts in the 113-pitch effort. Thomas Field was the lone Bobcat to reach base in the outing after being hit by a pitch in the top of the seventh inning.
The Longhorns jumped on the board first in the bottom of the second with two unearned runs to take the early lead. UT continued to score in each inning thereafter until Aaron Taylor blanked the foe to close out the eighth.
Kasparek took the final two outs of the game on his own, striking out two `Cats looking to wrap up the win.
The Bobcats will continue their ten-day road stint with a weekend series against Stephen F. Austin at Jaycees Field. The Southland Conference tilt will begin Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. Saturday's game is slated for 2 p.m. and the series will wrap up on Sunday at 1 p.m.
