Texas State Men's Golf Team Stands In Fifth Place At the Aldila Intercollegiate Tournament

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - - After opening Middle Tennessee State's Aldila Intercollegiate Tournament in inclement weather, the Texas State men's golf team fired a 5-over-par 293 in the second round under partly cloudy skies to finish the first day in fifth place with a 592 team score.

The Bobcats opened the tournament in sixth place with a team score of 299 in the first round after Philip Krebsbach shot an even-par 72 to lead Texas State. Tyler Barnes-Wolf began the day with a 2-over-par 74, while Andrew Bryan shot a 4-over-par 76 and Corey Roberson ended the first round at 5-over-par.

Texas State's second round score was the team's best score since October 29 when the Bobcats fired a 3-under-par 285 at the UTSA Invitational on the Comanche Trace Golf Course in Kerrville.

Barnes-Wolf led the team with a 4-under-par 71 and enters Tuesday's third round tied for seventh-place in the individual standings with a 36-hole score of 145.

Krebsbach is tied for 14th place with a two-round total of 147 after he shot a 3-over 75 in the second round. He enters Tuesday's third round listed among the top 11 players with six birdies in the first two rounds.

Roberson stands in 21st place after he finished the first day at 6-over-par with a 150 two-round total.

Michael Carnes enters the third round as one of three-players to record an eagle during the first two rounds, and has a score of 152 through 36 holes. Carnes shot a 2-over-par 74 in the second round after opening the tournament with a 6-over 78 in the first round.

Andrew Bryant is one of 10 players to record 26 par holes and enters the third round tied for 38th place after shooting a 9-over-par 153 in the first two rounds. Bryant fired a 4-over-par 76 in the first round before finishing the first day with a 5-over 77 in the second.

The host school, Middle Tennessee State, is atop the team standings with a two-round team score of 581. The Blue Raiders are led by Kent Bulle, who is tied for fifth place after shooting an Even-par 144 in the first two rounds. Southern Mississippi is in second place after the Golden Eagles fired a two-round team score of 583.

Arkansas-Little Rock is one shot back and in third place, while Austin Peay State is in fourth place with a two-round team score of 587. Austin Peay State's Grant Leaver is the individual leader heading into the final round with a 4-under-par 140 after the first two rounds.

Southern Mississippi's Wes Carter is in second place at 3-under par, while Anthony Broussard of North Texas is in third place at 2-under par. Jay Whitby of Arkansas-Little Rock stands in fourth place with a 1-under-par 143, while Bulle is tied with Rocky Cleland of Southern Miss for fifth place with an Even-par 144.
