With two outs in the opening frame of the day, Laurn Randell went up the middle of the first Texas State hit. Jonathan Farrow drew a walk on the next at bat and Paul Goldschmidt cleaned the bases on a homerun hit over the right center fence to put the Bobcats up 3-0 to start the game.

After holding the Colonels in the bottom of the first, Texas State came back firing with three more for the tally. Spenser Dennis recorded his first hit of the season in the top of the second with a double to left field and eventually crossed the plate on a shot from Randell through the left side.

The `Cats held on to the 6-0 margin until the top of the eighth inning, when Dennis led off the portion with his second double, this time to the right corner. Adam Witek and Randell banged back-to-back hits up the middle to reach base, but Witek was caught stealing on his effort to second. With two outs and Randell in scoring position, Jonathan Farrow placed a base hit up the middle to plate the Bobcat, but Texas State was not finished. Goldschmidt paid it forward and drove Farrow home on his second home run of the afternoon with a shot to left field.

With a 10-0 mark to overcome, Nicholls State had one last inning to counter the Maroon and White. Bone led off the inning with a single to left field but that would be the lone hit of the final frame and Texas State walked away with the victory in eight innings.
