The Texas State men's golf team ended the second round in ninth place at the All-America Intercollegiate Invitational tournament after the Bobcats fired a combined team score of 604 on the Tradition Course at the Cypresswood Country Club in Houston Monday.
The Bobcats began the day in a three-way tie for sixth place after shooting a score of 298 in the first round. Tyler Barnes-Wolf and Corey Roberson were the team's best individual players as Barnes-Wolf shot an even par score of 72 and Roberson fired a one-over-par 73 on the 7,220-yard course in the first round. Anthony Bryant fired a three-over-par score of 75 and Michael Carnes shot six over.
The Bobcats came back in the second round with a team score of 306 to fall back three spots into ninth place. Roberson posted the best score on the team in the second round with a three-over par 75, while Barnes-Wolf finished with a four-over-par score and they both enter the final round tied for 12th place in the individual standings with two-round totals of 148. .
Phillip Krebsbach came back to shoot a 77 score in the second round after ending the first round with an 81 to finish with a two-round score of 158. Carnes equaled his first round score 78 and finished with a two-round total of 156. Bryant finished the second round with a 155 total.
Arkansas-Little Rock enters Tuesday's final round as the team leader with a score of 587. Baylor is in second place with a team total of 592, while Lamar and the host school, Houston, are tied for third with team scores of 593.
UALR's Brian Whittle is the individual leader heading into the final round after shooting a 6-under-par 138 two-round total. He leads New Mexico State's Trais Reid by one stroke, while Houston's Ben Moser, Jacon Scriven of Texas Southern, Jacksonville State's Julian Colmenares and Lamar's Russell Henson are two strokes back and tied for third place.
The 54-hole event wraps up beginning at 8 a.m., Tuesday.
