THIBODAUX, La. -Texas State beats Nicholls in a rough five sets (25-15, 25-14, 23-25, 24-26, 15-12) to grab the win on the road. The Bobcats improve to 14-12, 7-1 SLC and continue their six-match win streak in conference play. The Colonels fall to 6-13, 3-6 SLC. Melinda Cave led all Bobcats with a dominating 19 kills.
The Bobcats took an early lead as they got ahead one set to none after the first. The Bobcats came out strong ousting the Colonels 25-15 in the first. The second was quite similar to the first as they beat Nicholls 25-14 in the second.
Coming out of intermission the rolls seemed to change as Nicholls fought hard to edge the Bobcats in the third 25-23. The fourth set did not come easy either as Nicholls grabbed another one from the Bobcats 26-24.
Refusing to give up the Bobcats found the strength to leave it all on the court as they came back to win the final set 15-12 and come away with the win.
Lawrencia Brown and Jessica Weynand both posted double-doubles tonight. Brown finished with 11 kills and 12 digs, while Weynand had 10 kills and 12 digs. Amy Weigle hit a career high average of .833, 10 kills on 12 attempts, including four blocks.
The Bobcats report to the court again tomorrow as they travel down the road to Hammond to face Southeastern Louisiana. Match time is set for 2:00pm CT.
The Bobcats lead the series against Southeastern Louisiana 22-5. The last time the two teams faced was last season at Hammond, where the Bobcats returned home with a 3-0 victory.
