CONWAY, Texas - Fighting the entire match the Texas State volleyball team was able to go into Central Arkansas (13-5, 5-2) and pull out a win in one of the toughest gyms in the conference ending the Bears four-match win streak. Jessica Weynand had 16 kills to lead all Bobcats in their fourth straight Southland Conference win. Texas State now improves its record to 12-12, 5-1 SLC.

Riding the momentum from their previous win Texas State got out to a win in the first set winning by a two-point margin, 25-23. Recording an attack percentage of .375 as a team, Weynand and Lawrencia Brown led the way with six kills each to start the match.

Ally Buitron served a service ace to capture the second set and take a, 2-0 lead going into the third set. Weynand scored half of the last six points for the Bobcats as they skipped ahead of the Bears and won the set, 25-22. Melinda Cave served up the last four points for Texas State. Brown had six kills and six digs in the third set alone to help the Bobcats to a win tonight, including the match point.

Brown recorded her fifth double-double of the season as she claimed 15 kills (.407) and 15 digs. Brittany Collins also recorded a double-double tonight, her fourth of the season with 26 assists and 10 digs.

Texas State edged Central Arkansas in assists, 46-35. The Bobcats also recorded a higher hitting percentage in every set, finishing the match with .315 to the Bears, .202.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. as they host visiting Northwestern State. Don't forget that the volleyball team will be hosting a free clinic that morning. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. The clinic will run from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. The camp is open for youth ages 8th grade and under.
