SAN MARCOS - After battling to a scoreless tie over the first half, a Sarabeth Clopton goal in the 56th minute off a corner kick put Texas State down 1-0, and the Bobcats would allow two more goals in dropping a 3-0 decision to Texas Tech on Wednesday.

Texas State's defense hung tough for the opening period, as Bobcat goalie Amanda Byrd made five saves against constant pressure as the Red Raiders outshot the Bobcats 12-3 over the first 45 minutes.

The Bobcats also had a couple of scoring chances of their own, but shots by Lindsay Tippit and Andrea Seledee were turned away. Tippit's chance came when Tech goalie Tina Rincon wandered away from the net but made a diving save to deflect Tippit's strike from the right corner.

After falling behind 1-0, Britney Curry tried for an equalizer with two second-half shots, but Texas Tech sealed the win with a pair of Emmie Bennett goals in the 83rd and 85th minutes

The Bobcats will now head to Louisiana for a Friday night match at Centenary. Kick off is slated for 7 p.m.
